Saturday, October 10, 11:00am to 2:00pm
1728 S. La Cienega Blvd, upstairs, Los Angeles 90035
$99. Small group. No experience needed.
I get one email more than any other. Some version of, "I want to start acting, but I have no idea how." This is my answer.
Three hours of fun in a real LA studio, with a small group of people who are all beginners. You'll be up and doing it for most of the afternoon. Never having said a line out loud is a completely normal place to start, and it's who I built this for.
This isn't auditing a class. Auditing is watching. This is your class.
Go around the room. Not your resume. The real reason you're here.
Warm up the voice and body, and I'll tell you why each piece works while we do it.
Concentration and imagination. An actor's job is to believe something as if it's really happening, and that starts here.
Improv. Saying yes, and finding out the room is on your side.
The business of acting. How the industry actually works, what casting is looking for, and how to run yourself like a business.
Demystifying the craft and the business, in one afternoon. You'll leave with a workbook, a plan, and a clear answer to what comes next.
I'm Shannon Sturges. I've acted on screen for over thirty years, including Savannah for Aaron Spelling, Charmed, Nip/Tuck, Cold Case and S.W.A.T. I've been coaching actors for over fifteen years and have owned this studio for ten.
The room is safe and it's kind. I will never ask you to dig up the worst thing that ever happened to you to make a scene work. That's not what acting is.
Arrive 15 minutes early. Wear something you can move in. Bring water and a pen. There's nothing to prepare.
Come find out what you can do. I give you permission.
